Clermont Beef Expo Market Report 28/10/2022

2200 head were yarded at the 10th Annual Hoch & Wilkinson’s Clermont Beef Expo on Friday the 28th of October. A tremendous line up of cattle across all sections with prices reflecting the quality. Cattle were drawn from the local Clermont and Isaac Region. The buying support was very strong and active across all lines, with southern processors active in meatworks section. Southern Downs feedlots were very active in the feeder steers, while local CQ producers were very active on the good runs of weaner and store steers.

The Isaac Regional Council sponsored Grand Champion Exhibit was taken out by the Mifsud Family of “Glen Idol” Clermont with a pen of Simmental X 100 day Grain Fed steers. They also won the Champion pen of Grain fed and Champion Pen of Prime cattle. Steers weighed 718kgs for 454c/kg to make $3263.

The Mifsud Family also took home the Sally Taylor Memorial Trophy with the Champion Beast of the Expo with a 100 Day Grain Fed steer weigh 780kgs to make 458c/kg to return $3572.

The Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed went to the Burnett Family “Bendemere” Clermont with Simmental bullocks making 410c/kg for 792kgs to come back at $3249. They also won the Champion pen of Prime Crop/Grass fed.

Pen of Grass Fed bullocks was taken out by the Moller Family “Star of Hope” Clermont with a pen of Droughtmaster Bullocks weighing 611kgs to make 420c/kg to make $2566.

Pen of Trade 100 day Grain fed steers was won by The Mifsud Family “Glen Idol” Clermont with Simmental X steers making 450c/kg for 587kgs to make $2641.

The best pen of Grain Assist/ Crop Fed trade steers went to the Marks Family “Winvic” Clermont with a pen of Braford steers that reached 413c/kg for 599kgs to return $2475.

Grass Fed Trade steers was won by the Fernie Family “Riverview” Clermont with Droughtmaster steers weighing 605kgs to reach 419c/kg to make $2537.

The Pen of Grain Fed Heifers was won by the Mifsud Family “Glen Idol” Clermont with a pen of Simmental X heifers 600kgs which made 426c/kg to realise $2558.

The Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed heifers went to the Faint Family “Glenmore” Clermont with a pen of Brangus X Heifers which weighed 499kgs to make 425c/kg to come back at $2122.

The Grass fed heifers went to the Anderson Family “Narrien” Clermont with a pen of Angus/Braford X heifers to make 412c/kg for 659kgs to make $2717.

Pen of Grain Assist/Crop Fed Cows was taken home by Michael Borg “Calveston” Clermont with a pen of Brahman cows weighing 608kgs to make 377c/kg to come back at $2294.

The Grass Fed pen of Export Cows was won by the Moller Family “Trelawney” Clermont with a pen of Charolais X Cows weighing 601kgs which made 379c/kg to come back at $2280.

The Pen of Feeder steers was won by Alan and Carly Guilfoyle “Table Downs” Clermont with a pen of Charolais X steers weighing 478kgs to make 504c/kg to come back at $2410. They also won Champion Pen of Store Steers and Champion Pen of Store Cattle overall.

Wayde and Jody Marks “Carnarvon Lagoons” Clermont won the Pen of Store Steers with a pen of Black Simmental X steers weighing 307kgs to make 624c/kg to make $1920.

The Pen of Weaner Steers was won by the Obst Family “Kiandra” Clermont with a pen of Angus X steers 283kgs for 666c/kg to come back at $1887.

The Feeder Heifers Class went to the Brown Family “Ironbark” Clermont with a pen of Charolais X heifers weighing 418kgs to make 518c/kg to come back at $2167.

Pen of Store Heifers was taken out by the Rickertt Family “Curra” Clermont with a pen of Charolais X Heifers weighing 324kgs to make 576c/kg to come back at $1870. They also won the Champion pen of Heifers.
