The trade display featured more than 25 businesses where traders offered specials and demonstrations of their products to interested spectators. The afternoon activities included a forum featuring Tom O’Toole whose two key areas were business success & personal development.
This year the emphasis is on Mental & Physical, Health & Well Being. Our catch phase slogan is “Healthy Beauty & the Beast”. Founding director of “The Resilience Project” Hugh Van Cuylenburg will be our guest speaker this year.
Hugh has been working in education for over 13 years. Starting out as a primary school teacher, he then moved into a position working in a secondary setting with disengaged adolescents. The highlight of his teaching career was the year he spent in the far north of India volunteering and living at an underprivileged school in the Himalayas. It was here that he discovered resilience in its purest form.
Inspired by this experience Hugh returned to Melbourne and commenced working on his own programs for schools. ‘The Resilience Project’ was born. Having completed his post grad. studies into mental health and resilience, Hugh has developed and facilitated programs for over 300 schools Australia wide. In 2015, the National Rugby League asked Hugh to design and implement a program for every club in the competition. Off the back of the success of the NRL program, Cricket Australia was quick to follow for all their professional sides. Hugh has also worked closely with the Australian Netball team and 11 of the AFL sides.
Hugh is now working closely with corporate and non for profit organisations to help promote positive mental health strategies in the work place.
Supporting The Resilience Project spectators will also have access to a 10 Point Pit Stop check held by the local Hospital & Doctors as well as numerous stalls with other health related information to encourage all who attend to start making their health & well being a priority just as they do for their livestock. We are also sponsoring for the Resilience Project to hold forums for all our local and Distance Education students.
We are preparing to host the Beef Expo & Trade Display once again on Wednesday 25th October. This year we are seeking sponsorship to ensure the continued success and would like to invite you to be involved. Sponsorship funds directly benefit winners of the sponsored classes. Each class attracts $1,000 in prize money. In addition, we have champion pens of prime and store cattle. Each of these pens attracts $1,500 in prize money. The Sally Taylor Memorial Perpetual Trophy is awarded to the Supreme Champion Beast from nominated pens. This award will attract $1,500 in prize money. The most prestigious award is granted to the Grand Champion Pen, and attracts $5,000 in prize money.
